PUNXY SADDLE CLUB NEWS revised 8/20/08

This month's member show is Friday night 8/22/08 6pm, the flyer is not done yet, but we will be doing an all fun show.  If I get it not too late tomorrow night 8/21/08 I will post the flyer in "flyers" on the web site, if it is too late you can get one at the show registration building.  If anyone has any requests for classes they would like to try, let us know and if it is feasible we will probably try to do it in the future.

Congrats to all that will go onto the State 4h show in Harrisburg!

The pleasure show Sunday 7/20/08 went well, there were approximately 24 participants. Our next open show is an game show and it is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 6, 2008 at 10am, rain or shine,

Members please remember to bring a donation to sell in the kitchen or pop/water if you can.   See details in the flyer for classes. Next member show 8/22/08, bring a covered dish, pay $3/adult, $2/child to eat, ride all night for $5/horse/rider combination, e-mail will be sent in the event of a cancellation. Help may be needed so see one of the directors if you can lend a hand. The August 17th obstacle course has been cancelled, we weren't able to get the obstacles needed constructed in time this year, maybe we'll try for next year.

Please contact Rusty at 952-0510 and let him know if you can lend a hand with the various construction projects and clean up that will need done. Also he could use help with trimming/mowing regularly. As soon as weather permits and hay season slows down, we will try to get a crew together to finish the arena fence, if you are able to help, please contact Rusty so he can let you know when that time comes.   If you would like to donate (just $20 would buy a post and a bag of cement) or know a business that would be willing to give sponsorship please contact a board member. Recently we have heard from the Rotary Club who is willing to give us a nice donation.   Gateway 4H has constructed an area near the club house for flower planting and it looks beautiful, thank you Gateway 4H!   Also last year it was approved to plant trees on the grounds, if you would like to donate a tree or know a nursery who would like to donate a tree that would be great.

Congratulations to member Devin McClain who achieved 2nd runner up 2008 Jr. Queen at Jefferson County Fair pageant. Also several of our PSC kids & adults competed at the Sykesville Ag and Youth Fair in the horse exhibitions, congratulations to all on their hard work and accomplishments.

Also needed is a new trail class bridge, the present one is unsafe, if anyone would like to construct one it would be greatly appreciated! Members are reminded as stated in the bylaws you have an obligation to support events with donations of food/goods/time equal to $50 or make a monetary donation of no less than $50 for the year paid by October 1st of the current year, such donations are in addition to the current membership fee and do not include covered dish family functions.(See article III section I Qualifications.) This ensures the work load is distributed throughout the membership and not always dependent on the same few.  If you are available, please let someone know, (there is not always time to call everyone) or just show up at the event and offer your help, you won't be turned down!

If you have money to turn in for Subway coupons contact Chriss Long at 427-2772. For fundraiser to be successful we need cooperation of members to sell, turn in money and/or unsold tickets or goods in a timely manner.  If you neglect to turn in unsold tickets or goods past the date given, you will be responsible for the cash worth of the goods/tickets. As stated in the bylaws "any member owing money to the Punx'y Saddle Club will not be permitted to renew his/her membership or to join the Club under a new membership until such time as said debt is paid to the club".  So please, be responsible and help make these fundraiser's successful.

Please check this page for ongoing updates and news.    Next regular Saddle Club meeting is 8/27/08, 7pm. The deep fryer has been purchased and has been installed, thanks to all that participated in that project, Monica and Larry Monoskey, Rusty and Mary Craft, Jeff and Missy Singer. Also plans to purchase bumpers for the barrels are under way and they have been ordered, Marina Gorman of East Ridge Tack will purchase them at her cost for the club. Please thank all of the grounds workers, kitchen workers, clubhouse workers, show volunteers and everyone who have helped make things happen, they appreciate an encouraging word.  Also please remember to thank our sponsors, some of them have been donating for some years now, let them know how much we appreciate their help.
